Acupuncture

The Center’s acupuncture department addresses various disorders such allergies, anxiety, muscle spasms and pain. Acupuncture is an integral part of a complete system of natural health and healing.

Tracing its existence in Asia for more than 5,000 years, acupuncture has proven to be both safe and effective in medicine. Though relatively new to western cultures, acupuncture has been shown, through numerous studies in western journals and publications, to be safe and clinically effective in the relief of headaches, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, back pain, stress and other conditions.

The Center uses both needle therapy as well as micro-stimulation and acupressure for those who are squeamish or too young for needles.

Decompression or Traction

Decompression (or traction) is often used alone or as an adjunct to chiropractic manipulation. It involves the distraction (or stretching out) of the joint(s), during which two joint surfaces are gradually separated to relieve pressure.

Spinal traction of the lumbar or cervical spine to aid in the decompression of the joint or intervertebral disc space. Traction also accomplishes the mild stretching of the surrounding tissues. This form of therapy has often proven invaluable in the treatment of “pinched nerves.”

Intersegmental traction is a form of spinal traction combined with vibratory massage to allow for the stretching and mobilization of the spine and corresponding muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Carpal tunnel traction is a form of specialized traction to the wrist and forearm to aid in the relief and recovery of carpal tunnel symptoms. This is provided through the use of the CTD Mark IV Device, which is currently the most progressive, noninvasive treatment for carpal tunnel conditions.
