Physician Profile

Dr. James E. McGinn, Jr.

Dr. James E. McGinn, Jr. earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Marquette University of Milwaukee and obtained his doctorate and Bachelor of Science in human anatomy from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Ill.

In 1999, Dr. McGinn developed The Center for Progressive Natural Health with the goal of providing physician specialties in a wide range of health fields. Originally founded on delivering the most progressive spinal care, he has since expanded the focus to include Internal Disorders and Functional Medicine. Dr. McGinn completed a Diplomate in Internal Disorders (family practice) from Texas Chiropractic College, and he studied Functional Assessment Medicine at the Institute for Functional Medicine.

With a passion for continued growth and education, Dr. McGinn has completed advanced coursework from the Institute of Functional Medicine and American Chiropractic Association.

"The objective of Progressive Natural Health is to provide the most current evaluation and assessment of each patient, then to deliver the most effective natural therapy inclusive of diet, nutrition, exercise, manipulation, physical therapy and acupuncture, for healing and adding life longevity and well-being,” he says.

Dr. McGinn maintains a special interest in working with people of all ages on spinal care, plus changing life habits, which have caused diabetes, allergies, elevated cholesterol, digestive disorders, autoimmune diseases and other chronic conditions.

Required to complete 150 hours of continuing education every three years in nationally approved course work, Dr. McGinn attends online courses for various conditions. He also travels to conferences around the country for seminars and training. This is in addition to many hours reviewing professional journals and research studies.

“Functional medicine is holistic,” says Dr. McGinn. “All systems of the human body interact with each other and have an impact on the patient. Functional medicine looks upstream for the cause of the symptom rather than downstream and simply treat the symptom rather than the cause.”

Progressive Natural Health refers to first choice medicine or functional medicine to reduce reliance on surgery while working with the body’s natural healing abilities.
